In this position, you will take responsibility for the accounting of one of our entities, prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB, and actively contribute to making processes more efficient, well-documented, and future-proof – including supporting system and software implementations as well as audits.

How you'll make an impact

  • Independent preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB and tax regulations
  • Management and reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledgers
  • Responsibility for specific technical and process areas (e.g. fixed assets, transfer pricing, intercompany accounting, indirect taxes, income taxes, insurance-related accounting topics)
  • Ensuring proper booking, allocation, and documentation of business transactions
  • Preparation and submission of monthly VAT returns
  • Preparation and submission of monthly reports to the central bank
  • Analysis, control, and continuous improvement of processes, as well as participation in finance and accounting projects
  • Preparation of weekly cash flow and point of contact for banking matters

What it takes to succeed in this role

  • Degree with a focus on accounting/controlling or commercial training with further qualification (e.g. certified accountant)
  • Knowledge of German commercial and tax law, ideally complemented by IFRS and Solvency II
  • Several years of experience in finance and accounting, experience in the insurance sector is a plus
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, combined with a structured, independent, and careful working style
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good Excel and data processing skills
  • Strong understanding of processes and systems in a finance environment
  • Very good German language skills and good English
